Reorient’s traditional Feng Shui coins are crafted following ancient production methods. Each coin is forged rather than pressed or stamped. These are authentic recreations of Ching and Qing era currency. The design comes from ancient Chinese coins, which were round with a square hole in the center. The convention was originally used to allow people to string coins together for ease of use. However, according to Taoist customs the round coin with a square hole also represents a convergence of heaven and earth – making it energetic, powerful and harmonious. The circle of the coin represents the heavens, while the hole is the earth at the center. Tradition holds that putting three coins together and binding them with a red string or ribbon completes a Taoist trinity of Heaven, Earth and Humanity. The tied coins should then be placed in a wallet or purse to encourage the attraction of wealth. Reorient’s coins are also ideal for casting divination with the I Ching.
